Painting: a therapeutic process


Art is one of the most genuine form of expression. Therapists across the world are recognizing its power and have begun using art as a medium of therapy. While some are specially certified in art therapy, others use different techniques from art therapy in their practice. One does not need to be good at art for the therapeutic benefits for the best part about the process is that the process in it self is therapeutic.

The above picture is a painting I made with water colors. Paint is considered to be a very important tool in art therapy. It is believed that since the paint, the medium of expression, is flowy, it can help some of the stagnant emotions to flow.


Today, after a very difficult day, I felt like I needed to manage the stress my body was feeling and while I did not have the energy to form into words what was going on, it needed to be moved.
